Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
